Benson Tan is promoter of the upcoming first British Motorsport Festival to be held in China. Benson, born in Singapore, grew up in London and now lives in Beijing. He first visited China in 1982.
Benson has had a long passion for motor sports and today runs a company, Imperial Motorsports Limited. He himself started driving at 13 - just like Bruce did on former airfields.
The Motorsport Festival starts in Beijing this autumn before moving on to Shanghai, Shaoxing and Zhuhai. In Beijing the event will be held at the Goldenport track near Capital Airport in Shunyi.
This will be the first year of the festival which aims to help improve motorsport standards in China along with showing what is great about the UK's long association with quality motorsport engineering.
Benson mentions the names of well known British racing drivers - some of whom he has met. He talks of the iconic car brands that are increasingly known in China such as Jaguar, Bentley, Morgan, Lotus, McLaren along with engine technology through Rolls Royce. Benson comments that the UK is responsible for producing 70% of worldwide motorsports products.
