Recently the Conrad Hotel in Beijing had an American food festival based around the idea of a road trip along historic Route 66. This was the idea of French Executive Chef Yannick Ehrsam in cooperation with Michael D. Rosenblum, Executive Chef for the U.S. Ambassador to China.
Route 66, running between California and Chicago is symbolic of the U.S. in the early years of the 20th Century - the Golden Road taking migrants seeking a better life to California and the Pacific coast. The geographic diversity of the country along with immigration from every country worldwide has contributed to a great range of cuisine. Certain cities such as New York, New Orleans and San Francisco can be a dream for serious diners, such is there range of amazing foods.
Yannick and Michael explain how they tried to present as many experiences of US food culture to the diners.
The U.S. is also famed for exporting fast foods such as the burger to the World. Michael explains how today the burger has developed for its early days increasingly into a gourmet dining experience.
