Edwin Maher - Long Established Newsreader with CCTV

For many years associated with presenting CCTV's news in English, Edwin Maher takes us back to his childhood in New Zealand. From an early age, he developed a passion for radio, enjoyed listening to the family's set and hoped one day to be a voice coming out from it!! Ambitions started to be fulfilled when he began working with New Zealand Broadcasting Corporation before heading to Australia.

He goes on to talk of early the early days in television when everything was broadcasted in 'black and white', remembering also the start of colour television in His adopted homeland.  He recalls amusing moments working with smaller, local stations in Australia and how in those days everything including the commercials were mostly live productions. It was therefore easier for things to go wrong compared to today!

Edwin went on to spend 25 years with ABC in Australia news reading and delivering weather reports in a style that brought him celebrity status.
