Close to Beixinqiao, The Hutong always has a great programme of cultural, culinary and educational activities both in Beijing and across much of China. In today's feature Jeremiah Jenne, Manager at The Hutong updates Bruce on current and upcoming events.
First they talk of some of their favourite places in and around the city. For Bruce, there is the attraction of the mountainous areas occupying much of Yanqing County. Jeremiah talks of how there are still many less travelled, still to be discovered places including parts of the Great Wall.
Even within the older city, there are great and often quiet areas for peaceful enjoyment. Although alleys such as Nanluoguxiang and the shores of Houhai are now very crowded there are many side alleys with some lovely cafes to relax in.
They talk also of areas such as Dashilar that are filled with so much local character. Then there are the scenic attractions close to the Forbidden City such as Tai Miao and Zhongshan Park where large crowds are usually not encountered.
They finish this feature by mentioning the mouth-watering culinary classes offered by The Hutong and of the recent visit by 'Planetwalker' John Francis.
Photos are of the recent Hutong Summer Fayre which Bruce and Jeremiah talked about on Touch Beijing.
