ZM: There are six players on each team — five skaters and one goaltender or goalkeeper called the “goalie”. Similar to soccer, players must get the puck past the opposing team’s goalie into the net in order to score.
K: Indeed, hockey and soccer both have goalies and a net as the place for scoring. However the word “hockey” comes from a French word that means “stick” because hockey is played with a stick and a puck rather than a ball as in soccer.
