Close collaboration in bringing a major UK stage production to China

In just over three weeks, 'War Horse' will commence its run of fifty performances at the National Theatre of China, here in Beijing.

Katrina Gilroy, Producer from the UK's National Theatre describes in today's feature more about the work and cooperation between both National Theaters. This close collaboration has been essential in overseeing the successful translation of a UK stage play to one produced in Chinese. It has been a great success, so far, for both companies. Katrina expects considerable media attention around the opening, not just from domestic Chinese organizations but also the great interest already building back in the UK.

Several leaders from the National Theatre are expected to come over from the UK to China for the opening along with some of the cast from the original 2007 stage performance in Lindon.

Katrina talks of her satisfaction of working with the  Chinese team on the several occasions she has been here.

'War Horse' will commence at the National Theatre of China, Guang'anmen Wai Dajie on 4 September before moving on to Shanghai and hopefully other cities in 2016.
