Last year, I went on my first trip on an airplane. I was really nervous about the flight, but in the end, it wasn't that bad. When I got on the plane, I had to find my seat. Once I found my seat, I found that I was seated next to an old woman. I then put my carry-on bag in the overhead compartment. The flight attendant had to help me put it up there because I'm not that tall. After I sat down, it was time to take off. The woman next to me had flown many times before and she could tell I was nervous. She told me to relax and not to worry. Once we got off the ground, it was a smooth flight.

语法重点：
介绍过去完成时(had+ 过去分词)的用法：
1. 谈到过去完成时之前，我们先复习现在完成时(have + 过去分词)的用法。
a. 现在完成时可以单独存在，表到目前为止已经完成的动作，完成时助动词 have 译成 ''已经''，即：
I have finished the work.
我已经把工作做完了。
Peter has left.
彼得已经离开了。
b. 现在完成时也可与副词before(之前)并用，形成''have + 过去分词+before''，have 译成 ''曾经''，即：
I have seen that guy before.
我之前曾经见过那个家伙。
John has been to Hong Kong before.
约翰之前曾经去过香港。
c. 现在完成时也可与since(自从)引导的过去时副词从句或介词短语并用，此时 have 译成 ''一直''，即：
I have lived here since I was born.
自我出生后我就一直住在这里了。
Mary has learned Chinese since 2010.
自二Ｏ一Ｏ年起，玛丽就一直在学中文。
d. 现在完成时也可与''介词 for + 一段时间'' 并用，表示「从事……已有若干时间了」，即：
Mary has learned Chinese for quite a few years.
玛丽学中文已有好几年了。
但：现在完成时绝不可与表过去的时间副词或短语并用，即：
I have finished all the work yesterday.(×)
I have seen the movie long time ago.(×)
句中只要有表过去的时间副词或短语，动词只能采过去时，即：
I finished all the work yesterday.
我昨天把所有的工作都做完了。
I saw the movie long time ago.
我很久以前就看过这部片子了。
2. 过去完成时(had + 过去分词)通常不能单独存在，一定要与另一含过去时动词的从句或主句并用。换言之，过去完成时一定要有过去时衬托，先发生的动作采过去完成时，后发生的动作采过去时，即：
The train had left. (×)
过去完成时单独存在
→ When I arrived at the station, the train had left. (○)
过去时 过去完成时
我到了车站时，火车已经离开了。
He had finished all the work. (×)
过去完成时单独存在
→ He said (that) he had finished all the work.
过去时 过去完成时
他说他已把所有的工作都做完了。
3. 本课倒数第二句：
The woman next to me had flown many times before and she could tell (that) I
过去完成时 过去时
was nervous. (○)
坐在我隔壁的女子以前曾搭机多次，因此她看得出来我很紧张。
